Baseball in the Backyard

Emerson has been visiting for 5 days....and oh my, have we had a blast!  We've played a LOT of baseball...mostly in the backyard.  On Saturday, we sat outside and had lunch in the middle of our playing.

It was back to the game...

We only had 3 balls...and we lost one.  We lost a second one multiple times, but always seemed to find it.  Emerson hit it over the fence on many occasions...with his Papa having to go knock on doors to retrieve the balls from backyards!

After one mighty hit, this was Emerson.  I asked him what he was doing.  "I'm giving high fives!  That's what you do after a home run!"
He has a lot of homeruns...
and a lot of high fives!
On a side note, his new tooth is coming in!
His Papa was showing that he was also a stud...even though he wasn't hitting the home runs...

and then we continued with some more baseball....and some more...and some more....

It was so much fun!

Emerson's 5th Birthday Party

June 7th was the day for Emerson's 5th Birthday Party
He was already 5 since his birthday was on May 13th!  It was a warm day and the baseball slip n slide was a hit with all the little people!
Emerson's Papa Greg was the pitcher for awhile...
until he got booted out by one of the little people!

Sliding into base was a lot more fun when there was water spraying...

Papa didn't try sliding...
I think Emerson was consulting with him on some of the finer points of 'Slip n' Slide Baseball!'
Emerson read each card...
This is one of his little friends, Logan.  Logan is adorable and was cracking me up with some of the things he was saying.  He goes to the same day care as Emerson.
One of my favorite pictures!
The wind decided to show up when it was time to light the birthday candles...

It sort-of worked...

Emerson's Papas were both there...
He got a new helmet...
to go with his new bike...

Papa had to try one of the birthday cupcakes before we took off to drive home...
Mimi and Papa wanted a picture with the birthday-party-boy, even though he wasn't too keen on the idea!

Happy Birthday, again, Emerson!  What a fun party!
