Location possibilities for my baby boy

My baby  boy...my oldest baby boy, Josh, is going to be taking my daughter (in-law) and granddaughter, and going overseas. He'll be in charge of the people guarding the American Embassy.  He doesn't know where, or for sure, when... but he'll find out in March or April.

He may get to give his top 3 choices, but there's no guarantee he'll get them. They will be in one country for 18 months...then a second country for 18 months.

My mom will be getting her passport...as will my guy!  There will definitely be more international travel in the coming summers!

Look at this list...and if you don't mind, tell Joshua (in the comments) what your top 3 choices would be.

I'm excited for them...and I'm sad that they'll be leaving...so sad...but so happy for them at the same time!

My top 3?  They'll be in the comments!

Red Sun

I was driving home from school.... late...

I think I left school at 6:40 p.m.  I saw this...and was hoping I'd make it home in time to grab my camera and get a photo...
I couldn't see it from my house, it was too far down on the horizon...

so I ran down the street...turned left...turned right...and headed west until I could get a good shot of it.  So many people were outside...all looking at the sun.  These pictures don't do it justice...it was so red, so beautiful...and there were striations running through it.

Amazing!

Saturday evening

My guy went to a Mennonite farmers market last week...
Lindsey was a bit surprised when I told her that...you have to know my guy to understand why that's a bit strange...
As he was getting ready to put it on the grill, he told me the husk was purple...

Purple?  Purple husk?  I had to go look...and then I had to take a picture cause I've never seen a purple husk.  Once I took the photos, my guy wanted me to take a picture of him holding the corn...OK...
I took this...and then he put them up to his ears...

Uh..why are you doing that?  I asked.

"Ears...ears of corn!" he exclaimed.  "Benjamin will like this."

Now I have no idea why he thought Benjamin would like this photo...he does love corn...he does love corn on the cobb...but I took the photo anyway...  My guy can certainly be a ham at times...
He was out barbequing chicken...and corn on the cobb.  I was inside working on school work...  He came in and told me to come outside and look at the sunset...  It  WAS beautiful...but these photos don't do it justice...
 I took a few pictures...
He continued to barbeque... then he got this silly grin on his face, picked up the corn OFF THE GRILL...
and put them by his ears...

he told me Benjamin would get a kick out of it???

"Uh, aren't those hot?" I asked.

"Oh..oh...yeah...!"he said as he tossed them around before getting them back on the grill.
The cobbs were safely back on the grill...the chicken was coming off...and it was time to eat!

My guy...sometimes he's just a big kid!

Weekend on the houseboat

What a wonderful weekend!  Here we are with our friends Brian & Andrea....and Carol & Mike....on Brian & Andrea's houseboat.  Besides enjoying being together, the weather was absolutely perfect...about 90 degrees... and we slept on top of the houseboat, looking up at the heavens.   It was a new moon, so there was no light from the moon.  I was totally amazed at the stars!

Saturday we went kayaking!  These pictures are not of my guy and I....since I was taking the pictures.  This is Mike and Carol.

Look how in sync those paddles are!
Brian and Andrea said the water was starting to get cooler, but as you can see, Brian hopped right in.  It was actually about perfect, once you got used to it!
Inside their houseboat, we were getting ready for some lunch...
My guy was cutting up a watermelon...
Mike and I are alike in that we both CRAVE the sun...the heat!  He waited until he got good and hot...
and then down the slide he went... we heard a slight moan as the coolness of the water hit the heated up Mike!
Carol had all kinds of facts she was reading out of the Reader's Digest!
My guy....
Who also decided to go down the slide...
Only, as you can probably see, he landed right on his rear... It had to have hurt...

"Oh no, it's great!" he answered.
Brian...
My guy...eating something...probably peanuts!
Brian...
I love this!  The sun was shining brightly on the lake...
When it was time to cook dinner...we had an...oops!  The grill wouldn't start.  The guys analyzed the situation...then realized there was no propane.... not a problem, though.  There was another bottle!
The salmon...

The new bottle of propane...
We had ignition...

Our dinner was excellent!  Salmon, veggies cooked on the grill, garlic bread.... Yum!

Like I said earlier, we slept under the stars ...
Sunday morning we (notice I said 'we'...but I should say 'they' since you don't see me) got all the padding and sleeping bags folded up and rolled up and put away...

I was trying to set my camera up so I could use the timer... my guy and Brian were my guinea pigs...
My guy wanted to take a picture of me and Carol..
To get everything ready, the kayak had to be hoisted up to the upper deck of the houseboat...
Here's the three guys... Brian, My guy, and Mike
Andrea and Brian...
a turtle...
Carol and Mike... ahhhh....
My guy and I...
The group....
We were ready...time to pull up the stakes...

and roll up the ropes...

This stump reminded me of a man climbing up the bank..with a backpack of sorts on his back...
The boat was hooked up behind the houseboat...
and Brian started the boat, put it in gear, and off we went...
leisurely traveling back to the marina where Brian and Andrea dock their boat...

Isn't it beautiful?  Even with the water level of the lake down, it's still gorgeous, in my opinion!

I rode a lot of the way back to the marina on top of the houseboat...
Once we got fairly close to the dock, Brian put the houseboat in neutral, and as he said, the girls said 'goodbye' to the 'mother ship'!
Andrea, Carol, and I climbed into the ski boat...waving to our men...
and Andrea drove the ski boat to the dock... they were bringing it home for the winter!
The mother ship...

As we cruised into the dock, I was sad to leave...

It was a wonderful, wonderful weekend!
