Sunday walk

My guy and I decided to go for a walk along a paved trail that runs beside the ocean.
I have a new app on my new iPhone....(which I'm loving!)...but the app records your route and lets you know when you've walked a mile, what your speed is, etc.  You can also go to other things...like the camera, while the fitness app is still running.  So...I stopped and took a few pictures along the way.
The sun started to set...just about the time we were finishing our walk.  I asked Siri (the phone) what time sunset would be...she said the sun would set at 5:26 p.m.... 18 minutes from the time I asked.
We got in the car and headed north.  We thought it would be a beautiful sunset with all the clouds, so we headed up to an overlook area of the beach.
This is after we stopped...and it was looking north at a little town...
and this was the sun setting...
Unfortunately, the clouds were too thick for the colors to come through...
so we waited a few minutes and then took off for home...
We tried out the camera on the phone...taking a photo of ourselves...not good of either of us, but oh well!

It was cool cold nippy outside...I think it was 46 degrees. It felt great to get out and walk... my new app told us we walked 3.32 miles...burning 402 calories...and we averaged 16.19 minutes a mile.  That was because we kept stopping to take pictures.

It was totally enjoyable...and what a gorgeous place to take a walk!

Happy Birthday to my very favorite sister-in-law!

This is my very favorite sister-in-law, Becky.  You can see what it did to her,  marrying into this family.
For those who may not know, this is (going clockwise from the upper left) my brother, Becky, Gabrial, and Joshua.
I made Becky a book for Christmas, and this picture is on the cover.  I've always loved it.
They used to dance a lot...not sure if they still do.

 Dancing in a California kitchen!
This is us!
No telling what was going on here!
Becky, Gabrial, John David
Ummm?  Maybe I was protecting my sister-in-law?
Here they (Becky, John David, and Sami)  are at Red Rock in Colorado.
You have to have known Becky to know why this was...a surprising picture in 2011.  Well, fast forward to 2012 and it was a normal picture!
Here's to 53 years young, Becky!

Happy Birthday!

Look, Mimi, I got THREE stars!!!

Last Sunday, we met Gabe and Emerson for breakfast...  There was a magician who came to our table and did a magic trick for Emerson... the trick was taking a chocolate 'poker chip' and turning it into 2 poker chips....he also made them disappear...and reappear, but it was turning one into two that fascinated Emerson.  When the magician gave one to him, Emerson rubbed it the same way trying to get two...it didn't work...but the magician gave him two to eat.

From there, we went to the Verizon store.  We joined with Gabe on a 'family plan'...and I finally got a smart phone...an iPhone5...which I've been wanting.  While we were there, Emerson found this iPad and went over and started to play some games.  I think I surprised him when I first walked up with my camera....
He smiled...knowing his Mimi was taking his picture...

He asked me if I wanted to watch him play the game...

Of course I did!  I was actually amazed at all he was doing.  He kept going from level to level.... the game would say something like, what are the fruits that start with a G....and then Emerson would click all the ones that did.  Another game was matching....like concentration.  He did pretty good on that too.  He did tell me I could play a few times.  He also told me I did a good job!
This was a version of Angry Birds...and when he knocked all the pieces down...
He was VERY excited...
But when he got 3 STARS....
 He was REALLY EXCITED!!!

"Look, Mimi, I got THREE stars!!!!" he excitedly exclaimed.
He decided to show his Papa the games...
Sometimes his Papa needs a bit more explanation...
I think Emerson was proud of him at this point...

I had my new iPhone...and my guy got a new non-smart phone (Verizon only had 2 models to pick from...what does that tell you?)...and it was time for us to start heading home...
I wanted a picture of my boys... Emerson wanted his cars in the picture...
 Is that too cute?
My baby boy...and his baby boy...

It was a short visit...short and sweet!

Charles Schultz Museum

Last weekend, we met Lindsey, Donnie, Benjamin & William...along with Don and Susan (Donnie's parents) in Santa Rosa.  We went to the Charles Schultz Museum...I knew there was a museum there, but had no idea it was as nice as it is.  They also have an ice skating rink..and a gift shop.

Benjamin was fascinated with this machine that flattened pennies and put an impression in the penny.  I think he did it three times...

We started in the theater where there were Snoopy cartoons...and documentaries constantly showing.
This Snoopy was standing next to the coin machine....holding the penny!

There are different statues of the characters in Snoopy scattered all around the grounds of the museum.

Benjamin really enjoyed this toy.  Do you remember when these were popular?  I remember having them for all sorts of topics...

This statue was right outside the ice skating rink!

William enjoyed the museum, too!  I don't know that he necessarily enjoyed all the Peanuts cartoons, but he enjoyed his Mimi and Papa..and his Grandma an Grandpa!

Charles Schultz...

He has definitely left a legacy!
