Attic Ladder

 We've had this opening in the ceiling of the garage since we built the house.  My guy just puts a ladder underneath it to climb up.  He always has said (for 24+ years) that he was going to put in an attic ladder.

Donnie came to visit.  Donnie coming to visit is like Joshua coming to visit...they like to do projects.

 

They drove around looking for an attic ladder.... check!

Back at home, they cut the opening a bit larger... Donnie climbed up inside the attic...they made a pulley to haul the ladder up...

It was H-E-A-V-Y....as you will able to see from the videos below....

 

I was curious when I saw this...the two boards on each end.  How in the world was it suppose to open?  Donnie was trapped inside...

 They were just supports...and my guys quickly removed them...

 One off, one to go...

 both removed...

 

The ladder was brought down....

After it was all said and done...my guy had to try it out!  The bottom had to be cut a bit to make it level with the floor...but once that was done...we now had an easier way to climb up in the attic!

Maybe now it can get cleaned out?
