Lumpini Park and Cabbages & Condoms! (July 25)

Lumpini Park is a beautiful park about a 10 minute walk from Joshua and Erica's.  Erica, Lizbeth, and I were there before 6 a.m.  There is one marked path that circles the park...and it's 1.5 miles  Erica and I both went around the park 4 times...

At 6 a.m., there were already MANY groups of people doing exercises..tai chi...and others.  There was even a large group doing aerobics!  That's the photo dirctly above.
Statues are all around the park...
See that yellow line?   Just follow it...

As I was coming back, I saw this komodo dragon walking along the grass
area!!! I had no idea they were here!

Today was a slow day...a catch up on lack of sleep day...  We left for an early dinner at Cabbages & Condoms.  Cabbages and Condoms?  Yes...that's the name of the restaurant...
There's a great story behind the name...
 leading into the restaurant....
There were quite a few statues...all covered with condoms!

Even the lights were condoms :)

The story says "Our restaurant was conceptualized in part to promote better understanding and acceptance of family planning and to generate income to support various development activities of the Population and Community Development Association (PDA)" PDA is Population & Community Development Association (PDA), a sex education/AIDS prevention organisation.

Instead of after-dinner mints...we got condoms!

Even Mona Lisa holds a condom...

I love these two pictures!!!
Cabbages & Condoms is really a nice restaurant.  When Joshua first told me about it..I was like, 'what?'  Not what you'd think a nice restaurant would be called.

After dinner, Sunshine, the driver, came to pick us up.  As we were driving back, I was just amazed at the .... not sure what it is....lack of zoning?  or just the way it is... next to the Westin Hotel...next to the Hyatt...are all the markets on the streets...  If you just saw these markets, you'd think you were in the slums...but you're not.  It's where the majority of people shop...the locals and the tourists!

Bangkok...I read it described somewhere as an assault on the senses.... true!
