Emerson didn't want to leave Benjamin's party!

Emerson came to his cousin, Benjamin's, party on Sunday...a party to celebrate his dedication. Emerson had a grand time...and discovered he loved watermelon!
Emerson, you're not suppose to eat the rind!
He quickly turned it around, finding that the meat of the watermelon was much tastier than the hard, green rind!
I'm not sure, but I think he turned his back on his Mimi because he wanted to test that rind one more time...
Ok, back to the melon...

He discovered the 'boom box'...the one his mama and Uncle Gabe had a few squabbles over when they were younger...Emerson was looking for just the right channel...and just the right volume...He was showing Brooks how it all worked.
The baseball game had been on, but he decided to change it.
Emerson went to visit Ben, a friend of his cousin, Benjamin's!
He was telling me how much he loved playing with all the balls! Uncle Donnie had filled a swimming pool with them, instead of water. Oh geez, what fun that was !
Emerson decided to take in the whole experience...he just laid right down in the midst of all of the balls!
Ok, enough of that...his daddy was calling him...
Off came his shirt...his shirt that was rather saturated with watermelon juice...and a host of other things, like dirt! Emerson was getting excited about getting in the pool again, but this time with water.
He was ready to go...but his daddy was restraining his little man...
Um? Emerson couldn't figure out why his daddy would wipe off his hands if he was just going to get in a pool of water???
Notice his tattoo? Well, it's not actually a tattoo (thank goodness!)...but it's a mock one, one drawn with ink. I think his daddy did it, planning on writing MOM inside, but Emerson would have no part of it...no way jose!

What you don't see here on the johnstonchronicles is the slight struggle to put ANOTHER shirt on...a clean shirt...because it was time to head home for this little party man!
He was yelling with his daddy...
Listening to his mama talk about what they needed to do to get ready to go...
"Go?" uh-oh...then Emerson realized he was leaving. He was saying, "DYE-DYE", (interpretation: bye-bye) not realizing HE was the one going...

Now the situation was a different story for this little man!
He didn't want to leave...

He was having too much fun hanging out with all his cousin's friends...

playing with all the balls...

listening to music...

eating watermelon...
All good things must come to an end...
Even his cousin, who the party was in honor of, was coming to the end of his waking hours...nap time was needed by all...

Emerson, he had a great time!
