The Solar Eclipse

Remember:  Donnie likes all things 'Space'...
and August 21 was THE day for a solar eclipse.
We weren't in the area to see a TOTAL solar eclipse, but at Linz and Donnie's, I think it was suppose to be something like 87%.  Donnie enclosed their 'fort' area of the play equipment.
It was black inside.
I think he punched holes somewhere...because for a couple of days he tracked exactly where the sun was.
William and I, well, we colored while we were waiting for the eclipse time...
William loves loves loves to color!
Donnie had really worked on making it so we could 'see' the eclipse...we did not have any of the special glasses.
It was cloudy..really cloudy...when it first started....
and then it began to clear...just some...a little blue sky here and there....
I told Donnie we could NOT look at the eclipse even though it was cloudy..
it could still hurt/damage the eyes.
He had set up this bucket of water so we could see the REFLECTION of the eclipse...
and look!
 That's exactly what we did...
One of the boys' friends had brought over a box he had made for viewing...but it was mostly a great stool for William...
but the bucket of water!!!

As the sky began to clear, up into the 'fort' we went...and LOOK!
 THIS is the eclipse!
It was pretty amazing...
and Donnie had set it up for our viewing.

Wow!
Like I said, we didn't see the TOTAL eclipse, but this was amazing as it was!
