July 19th at the farm

Thalia...had another first at the farm. I've already written about 'Driving Miss Thalia'...which was a first...but she had another...one not so fun...not one she wants to repeat...

She got stung...

by a bee...

a bee that stayed in her shirt after it stung her...

OUCH! It hurt...and it left a big hole...but a little baking soda paste and a lot of love from her sweet mama and her Mimi helped a bit... a little bit...

Some of the peaches were ripe...

Are there many things tastier than a tree-ripened peach?
We picked some... Jo, Erica, and I... I don't think Thalia was recovered from the bee yet...
Oh yes...tree ripened peaches...ready to eat...juicy and sweet!
Joshua was busy mowing...
There's always lots of mowing to be done at the farm...it's a constant job...by the time you finish, it's about time to start over!
After peeling and giving Erica and Thalia a taste of a delicious peach, I started peeling the rest... threw them in a bowl with some sugar, a little flour, and some cinnamon... and poured all that in a dish...dotted it with butter...and stuck it in the oven...Oh wait...first, I made a crust and covered it...but forgot to take a picture!

In anticipation of peach cobbler, Thalia poured her a bit of tea...that's cold tea...iced tea...tea that is so refreshing when it's 104 degrees and you're in Texas ... in Texas at the farm...and have just been stung by a nasty ole bee!
Oh Erica! SHE took a picture of the crust being made! Jo keeps her flour in an old Folger's Coffee container...
While the peach cobbler was cooking, my sweet daughter-in-law went out to take some photos...
The sun was setting...and we were certainly hoping these clouds would give a bit of rain...

The farm could use some rain, and these Californians (and probably the Texans too) could use a little cooling off by the rain...
Joshua was hard at work on another one of his projects...getting the Texas Golf Cart up and running.

Jo, (aka Grammy) was barbecuing some burgers...not Ron-burgers as we all love, but these were Grammy-burgers, which were equally delicious!
Thalia was a little worried...she didn't want her Papa to get his feelings hurt by us saying ANYTHING was as good as his Ron-burgers...
I told her not to worry...he never reads the blog...he'll never know!
We then turned our attention to the dirt-dobbers...those nasty looking bee-like critters who build their nests out of mud and water from Onion-Creek...
Grammy was unfazed by the dirt dobbers...
"Phooey...I just don't pay 'em any mind," she told us.

When the Grammy-burgers were done, we rang the dinner bell... (sorry, but that's not the truth...we just yelled to come and eat)

Thalia was busy...but she stopped to eat... the bee sting was now a thing of the past...

Our hero... Joshua...accomplished one of his many projects...the Texas Golf Cart was now operational...and Thalia took it out for it's maiden voyage...

Another of Erica's beautiful photos....
Looking out toward the fields...Well shoot...there's fields everywhere!

Looking up the road...this is the way to Lelands...or Jim Tom's...but if you want to go to town, you usually go the other way...

After Thalia took her Dad on the maiden voyage, she let her mama drive it for a while...

Here they come...
The sun was going down...

but there was still plenty of light to see to drive...

Grammy decided she best go check the mail...

"Oh Lordy...there's a little breeze comin up," Grammy muttered as she crossed the road without any mail...

"Let's just go in and have some of that peach cobbler," she said...
Thalia thought that was a grand idea...especially when she found out there was some scrumptious vanilla bean ice cream to put on top of it...

One more thing...Thalia wanted me to take a picture of this...
this sweet little birds nest...
with two little pink eggs in it...
that was in the GOLF CART before Joshua started fixin it up...
Thalia...had a great time at the farm (except for that dadgum bee!)...
as we all did... as we always do...
and... Joshua got every single thing on the list done!
